Tara is a Hawaiʻi based photographer with over 15 years of experience working in the creative industry.

Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Tara is deeply influenced by her environment and relationship with land and sea around her. Inspired by the dualities and contradictions, she seeks out juxtaposition in her work— masculine vs. feminine, the grace of the human form against a crumbling convenience store, a muscular figure in frilly, bright clothing. She also loves a good olʻ fashion portrait with good light.

Her approach is guided by a strong sense of authenticity and a quirky, feminine point of view.

Rockʻs thoughtful and observant process helps capture the subtle moments in-between— revealing unexpected significance in a fleeting moment. Her work for brand campaigns, magazine articles and published books has brought her to the vibrant outdoor markets of Jaipur, on a moped through the busy roads of Bali, the vast and endless deserts in Morocco, and the end of the road at Teahupoʻo. But she will also be the most inspired by the overcast, windless days at home.

She is available for creative direction and photography-based projects.
